Community Helpers

Submitted by adrian.rowley on

The kindergarten students at Orchard Hills Elementary learned about community helpers.  They were very lucky to have a few community helpers come in and talk to them.  Officer Bill Wright, from Payson Police Department, came and talked to the kindergartners about staying safe.  Rachel Lovejoy, from South Valley Pediatric Dentistry, came and talked to the students about taking care of their teeth.  Jeremy Spenst, from the Santquin Fire Department, came and talked about fire safety.  The students were able to see and walk through the fire truck.  What a fun week

Fall Field Trip

The second-grade classes went on their first field trip to the Red Barn and had a blast. They were picked up on wagons pulled by tractors and had fun riding through the orchards. They saw lots of apples on the trees and pumpkins growing on vines on the ground. They loved meandering through the maze and going down the big slides. The best part was the delicious donut at the end! It was a fabulous experience for all!

Adventure Day

By Gracie

Observing insects on a tree.

Winding paths to discover animals lurking in the bushes,

Leaves falling in our hair like snow everywhere,

The bright sun sparkles through the trees like glitter falling from the sky,

A stream trickles small and swift,

Exciting events around each corner like mysteries behind a book’s cover,

Pine trees smell like scented candles,

The second grade kicked the year off with the 2nd Grade Olympics! Each class set goals, made a class flag, and participated in events all week long. The students tie-dyed shirts in their classes and wore them at the Closing and Opening Ceremonies. Mr. Murray came and spoke to use about achieving our goals and working hard in all we do. We are excited for an awesome year!
