The fifth grade classes went to BYU on a science field trip. The students went through different science rotations. The kids got to see nitrogen ice cream made, experiment with static electricity, go to the planetarium, and see some awesome physical science demos! On top of all that, a bunch of BYU athletes talked to them about the importance of education and working hard. It was a very memorable field trip!
Mrs. Andrews' first grade class had a special visit from Tom the Turkey this afternoon. He helped the students the learn about sentences with adjectives and verbs. It was fun! He's trying to stay away from Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks to Mrs. Coon for sharing him!

It has been a busy week celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Students learned about making good choices,taking care of themselves, and being kind. Each class made a banner and the banners are hanging in the halls of the school. They are so fun to look at! We had lots of fun dress up days too: wear as much red and purple as you D.A.R.E!, craziest socks, favorite hat day, pajama day, and favorite team sports day. Thanks for helping us celebrate Red Ribbon Week.
Mrs. Knott's class was able to use oil pastels and water colors to create pictures of bridges. They learned that they are all great artists if they take their time and do their best work. Look at those cool bridges!
Orchard Hills held their annual Fall Dance Festival! It was so much fun! The Cougar Choir started the festival by singing the national anthem. Thank you to those that came to watch and support us! The students worked hard to prepare and it was awesome!
The kindergarten classes have been learning Nursery Rhymes in class the last couple of weeks. They did some fun activities with some Nursery Rhymes in class. This week the students were able to share a favorite with their class. Some favorites were: Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory Dock, 5 Little Pumpkins, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, 5 Little Monkeys, Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, and I'm a Little Teapot. It was fun to see them share with their classes.
Students can receive Cougar Paws from their teachers for various reasons (being kind, helping, positive behavior, being a good friend, and many other ways). When a child gets a Cougar Paw they take it to the office and their name is added to the Cougar Pride Board. 25 names were drawn out and those 25 had root beer floats! Yay! Lets fill that board again!
For the last few weeks the second grade classes and the students in the library have learned about and watched the Life Cycle of a Monarch Butterflies. The students would get so excited to watch the cycle and some were lucky enough to see as the butterflies came out of the chrysalis.
