The sixth-grade students at Orchard Hills Elementary school recently went on a walking field trip to the Santaquin Cemetery.  Teaching the students about the beautiful Military Monument and honoring our citizens who serve our country was one of the main goals.  Respect and etiquette of the cemetery was taught and encouraged while the students worked on special projects.  Learning about the different types of stones, art work, and poetry that are on the headstones becomes fascinating to the students.  Many of the headstones are recognized by the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers with a gold medallion.  Each of the students made several rubbings of the poetry and art designs found on the headstones.  Their work is displayed in the hall at school.
