Native Americans

This week in kindergarten, the kindergartners learned a little about Native Americans.  Ms. Esquerra is Native American and she taught the students.  She told them about her dress and what some of the things on it mean.  She taught them the respect Native Americans have for eagle feathers.  She then told the students a story about a coyote and a rooster and how the rooster brings up the sun.  

2013 Gobble-Off

Thursday, November 26th brought the annual Gobble-Off.  Each class selected a class winner and then the class winners gobbled for the entire school.  Each grade level had a winner and then a winner was selected for grades K-3 and a winner for grades 4-6.   The two winners won a turkey!!

Community Field Trip

The second grade went on our annual walking field trip around the community. We visited the library, pharmacy, bank and the Veteran's Museum where Ted Jones spoke to us. The kids loved it! We also did our Thanksgiving program for the Senior Citizens and had a blast. Luckily we stayed dry and bundled up! It was a good time for everyone.

Veteran's Day

To honor Veterans on Veteran's Day each class was given a balloon and a paper and each class wrote down veterans they know on the paper and then each class released a balloon to honor those veterans.

Reaction Time

Discovery Gateway came and did a Reaction Time Assembly for our fifth graders.  The students learned about matter, physical changes, and chemical changes.  They observed several experiments as well as performed some as well.  Not only was this a great learning experience, but the students had a lot of fun!

School Lunch Coloring Contest Winner

This is Zander Oryall.  He won a bike through the school lunch coloring contest "My favorite place in the United States".  He worked with his teacher and she helped him use  stencils to make a picture of Elk hunting in the mountains which is indeed Zanders favorite place in the whole world.  He just got back from hunting with his family this year.
