Second Grade Olympics were fabulous!  They all looked great in their matching t-shirts.  The students also had fun participating in olympic events.  They even had opening and closing ceremonies! 

Retiring Teachers

Ruth Francom, Shirley Esquerra, and Kathy Buchanan-Childs are retiring this year.  They are amazing teachers and they will be greatly missed at Orchard Hills!   They have been a great asset to Orchard Hills.  Good luck to them!  

Sixth Grade Orchestra

The sixth grade orchestra has had a great year at Orchard Hills Elementary.  They performed twice for the school and at a district wide concert.  They have gone from having virtually no music experience to performing pieces such as Ode to Joy, Cripple Creek and Summer by Vivaldi.  Members of the orchestra include Abby Buck (violin), Gracie Christensen (violin), Taylor French (violin), Jacob Cooper (violin), Abby Neal (violin), Emily Dutton (violin), Callie Teemant (viola), and Elise Lisonbee (cello). 

Museum of Natural Curiosity

The kindergartners went on a field trip to the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point.  What a fun field trip!  For most of them it was also their first time on the school bus and they were just as excited to ride the bus too!  

Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company

The Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company came down from Salt Lake to do an assembly for the students at Orchard Hills.  They do contempory dance and they taught the students about dance.  Dance is expressing yourself with movement.  They taught 4 different elements to the students.  The 4 elements are:  space, shape, time, and energy.  The kids loved it!

Net Smart Assembly

The students at Orchard Hills had an assembly where they learned about internet safety.  They were taught and reminded to never give out their personal information online and to tell a trusted adult if they see something that scares them, makes them feel uncomfortable, or confused.  Remember to be smart when you use the internet.  Here is the Net Smart website if you want more information:   http://www.netsmartzkids.org
