On Friday, December 20th the school had their annual Christmas Sing-a-long. What a fun tradition. Each grade level sang a song, the orchestra played some songs, and everyone had a great time singing songs together. Merry Christmas!
On December 19th the first grade classes performed their first grade program for the school and for parents. They sang songs and recited poems. Good job first graders!
Second grade had a blast learning about Christmas around the world!! We had volunteers come teach about different countries they have lived in. We learned about different customs and traditions all over the world. We wanted to especially thank Mr. Barlow, Mr. Murray, and Mr. Oyler for presenting to us!
Fifth graders at Orchard Hills celebrated Native American Day back in November. They learned more about Navajo Indians, made fry bread, played cat's cradle, and made story sticks.
Fifth graders at Orchard Hills enjoyed memorizing and performing The Gettysburg Address 150 years to the day that Abraham Lincoln gave the speech.

This week in kindergarten, the kindergartners learned a little about Native Americans. Ms. Esquerra is Native American and she taught the students. She told them about her dress and what some of the things on it mean. She taught them the respect Native Americans have for eagle feathers. She then told the students a story about a coyote and a rooster and how the rooster brings up the sun.
Thursday, November 26th brought the annual Gobble-Off. Each class selected a class winner and then the class winners gobbled for the entire school. Each grade level had a winner and then a winner was selected for grades K-3 and a winner for grades 4-6. The two winners won a turkey!!

The second grade went on our annual walking field trip around the community. We visited the library, pharmacy, bank and the Veteran's Museum where Ted Jones spoke to us. The kids loved it! We also did our Thanksgiving program for the Senior Citizens and had a blast. Luckily we stayed dry and bundled up! It was a good time for everyone.
The 2nd grade had a grand ol' time at our annual Pie Feast!! We hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving!!
