First graders ate pie together in the hall to celebrate Thanksgiving!
Lance Conrad, an author, came and visited 6th grade! He entertained the students with stories and jokes. He also taught about the importance of characters in stories. He said that characters need to have flaws in order to be able to connect to the reader. Thank you, Mr. Conrad!
The third graders decorated the Christmas tree at Zion's Bank with ornaments they created!
The second grade classes did a Thanksgiving Program for the school and for their parents today! They sang songs about turkeys, being thankful, and getting together with family and friends. Each class also recited a poem. Great job, second graders!
The fifth graders from Orchard Hills went to the Central Utah Veterans Home on Friday to celebrate an early Veteran's Day with the men and women who have bravely served our country. The students sang some patriotic songs, visited with the veterans, heard about some amazing experiences, and gave each veteran an American flag pin that they made. They then went and hung up thank you posters on the veteran's doors. It was an amazing experience that won't soon be forgotten.
We had a room full of Cougar Pride winners at October's donut and chocolate milk party! Students can receive Cougar Paws from their teachers by being kind, helping, showing positive behavior, being a good friend, and through many other ways. When a child gets a Cougar Paw, they take it to the office and their name is added to the Cougar Pride Board. These kids were chosen from the board to come to the party. We are so proud of our cougars and the PAWSitive choices they make! We can't wait for our next party!
Fifth graders learned about energy production and usage during a WattSmart assembly! It was great to learn about where energy comes from in the state of Utah, different ways it is utilized, and how we can be smart about our energy usage.
