The week of February 11-15 was Love the Bus Week.  The bus drivers got a special Thank You, students learned facts about the buses, and students got to tour the bus.  A big thank you to the great bus drivers we have!!

Bus Facts:
Day 1
This is Love the Bus Week:  Did you know that in Nebo School District we have 10,372 bus students, 184 buses, 138 school bus drivers, and 53 bus attendants?  The buses travel a total of 12,478 miles a day and 2,233,562 miles per school year and total 746 hours of driving time a day.

Day 2
School buses are the safest vehicle to transport children to and from school.  Why?  Because they are bright yellow and big so other people can see them better.  They have flashing yellow lights and red lights to stop traffic when students get on and off the bus.  Student's seats are high and padded.  They sit above a cars' impact protecting them if there is an accident.  There are 4 emergency windows, 2 roof hatches, and 3 emergency doors for students to get out of the bus quickly.

Day 3
The people who drive school buses are professionals.  They have to have a special license to drive a school bus and then they have to attend 26 hours of class and pass written tests.  They have to drive a total of 16 hours and pass a driving test before they can ever transport students.  They have to attend classes every year to be safe drivers.

Day 4
To keep you safe around a school bus remember as the bus approaches to stand 6 giant steps away from the curb.  Don't go towards a bus until it has stopped, you hear the air brake, and the door opens.  Never walk around the back side of the bus, always walk in front where the driver can see you.
