Last night, fifth grade had their DARE graduation! DARE is a program offered to all 5th grade students at Orchard Hills. It is taught by Officer Bell from the Santaquin Police Dept., and is designed to teach students about making safe and responsible choices, being kind to others, being good citizens in their community, and the risks involved with underage drinking and drug use. The point of DARE is to provide these students with appropriate knowledge to make educated & well-thought-out decisions when in the future they are confronted with drugs and alcohol, and other risky decisions. One of the fundamental lessons of DARE is to teach the kids that those who drink underage, use tobacco or other drugs are not bad people, they are just engaging in risky behavior. The students & teachers at Orchard Hills are grateful for Officer Bell who volunteers his time and energy to help us make safe and healthy decisions!
