Steve James Visits Orchard Hills

Submitted by adrian.rowley on

Steve James visited Orchard Hills Elementary and preformed several rousing renditions of his well loved songs.  Including favorites like: "I'll be Nice," "Hot to Not," and "Buckle Up."  Students and teachers were invited to join in on a couple of songs.  Steve's unique style and talent enable him to share his musical lessons on friendship, staying drug free, and self-esteem.

Fourth-Graders Visit State Capitol

Submitted by adrian.rowley on

Orchard Hills Elementary fourth-graders were given an up close adn personal tour of our State Capitol on November 17.  Representative Painter invited our students to see the newly renovated Capitol Building.  They were able to sit in the legislators' chambers, Supreme Court Room, and see the Governor's Gold Room.

Thank you, Representative Painter for this wonderful educational experience.

December Social Skill

The social skill for December is:

      How to Ask for Help

  1. Ask yourself, "Can I do this alone?"
  2. If not, raise your hand.
  3. Wait patiently.
  4. Ask for help in a friendly way.

We have reviewed and practiced these steps at school and we hope that you will review and reinforce them at home.  The following are some ways you can encourage your child to ask for help when he or she needs it.  Keep in mind that many children don't ask for help because they're too embarassed to admit they need it.
